You may have missed: KNOW IT AND YOU ARE FREE! - Part I
---
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31,32[KJV]
I want you to see that in spite of the many doubters and scoffers in Jesus’ congregation when he made this profound statement, He was really addressing it to those who believed Him. He said to them, “Continue in my word... and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”. We see from this passage that it is not enough just to believe in Jesus; but we also need to seek, study to know, and to continually abide in His words. A believer may still be in bondage if he does not know the relevant truths that have set Him free.
“If ye continue in my word...” We need to understand that one word is never enough for your total life of liberty. There is a Word for every season, every day, every situation, and every issue. Man needs to live by [feed on] every word that proceedeth [continuously] out of the mouth of God (Mat.4:4). Jesus said we need to continue in His word. Many Christians are experiencing victory in one or two areas of their lives, and the rest are all tales of defeat, fear, frustration and such as these. Christ did not just come into your life so He can get you into heaven, He came to give you a new kind of life, the God-kind of life (Eph.3:19); a life that is not just about being alive, but living an abundant life (Jn.10:10).
Christians who are not experiencing liberty and abundance in every area of their lives are not continuing in the Word. Continuing in the Word gives you all round victory in your life because the Word is effective for addressing every issue in any area of life.
So what does God say about your health? That you have already been healed and that your healing is in the past because Jesus healed every disease so you would not bear them (1Pet. 2:24). What do you do with this? Believe it, confess it and walk in it for it is true. Now what is God saying about your finances. Check it out from the scriptures, know it through meditation, confess it and walk in it. The moment full knowledge comes there is light and with light comes clear vision, and with clear vision comes faith and with faith comes access and manifestation.
“If ye continue in my word... ye shall know the truth.” It is not just the Word that brings the liberty, but the truth. When we study the Word, we should be looking for the truth. What then is the truth? The same Word is the Truth (Jn.17:17), but the truth is deeper. The truths are the eternal principles of the Word that we need to apply
to our lives (Ps.119:89). We may be reading some stories about Jesus or the apostles, but inside these stories are embedded some eternal principles of the Word that can transform our lives. Jesus said:
Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: that seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand...
[Mar 4:11,12] As a believer, it has been given unto you to know the deep truths of the Word because that is what you need to come into your life of liberty and abundance. It is therefore important for us not to be content with just surface mining in the word. Remember the Word is likened to a field with treasures buried within (Mat.13:44). The deeper you dig, the more you will find. This is why believers need to spend even more time meditating on the scriptures than they do reading them (Josh.1:8, Ps.1:2).
Again, the truth is the Word that has personally convicted you. The truth is the word that you are convinced is about you, and for you, and you have therefore taken hold of (1Tim 6:12, Heb 6:13). The Word may say all kinds of wonderful things, but the truth of the Word comes when you realise that it is written of you and you decide to fulfil it (Heb 10:7, Jas 1:23,24). Here is another reason why meditating on the Word is so crucial; because you need to get the Word into your spirit for it to become your truth. The Word of God is not ‘food for thought’ or for the mind. Thus you read it with your mind, but you study it with your spirit for you to know its truth (2Cor 2:13,14).
You know the truth when you have been deeply convicted by the word and you know that there is no turning away from what you have received.
Beloved, knowledge of the truth is the master key to living in the liberty wherewith Christ has set us free. Therefore stand fast in the truth, that you may not be again entangled in the yoke of bondage.
For freedom, Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery (Gal 5:1[ESV]).
