In previous editions, we have reconsidered our understanding of what constitutes faith. We have seen from the Scripture how there is no faith if there is no corresponding deed. We have realized that faith is not just in the hearing of the truth but in the hearing and doing of the truth. We have seen that every faith has its corresponding action without which that faith is dead or non-existent.
Nevertheless, there are some who espouse the belief that a believer’s actions/deeds does not constitute his life but rather it is his professed beliefs that do constitute his life. Whether consciously or not, these people think that what a person believes is what he merely agrees with to be true. Believing, therefore, is reduced into a mental exercise by many; making a man’s life a constitution of what he mentally and verbally agrees with to be true. There are some who also argue that this believing is not just mental but one of the heart. They say a man’s life does not consist of what he does but of what he believes in his heart to be true. Now, not only is that implausible, but also, it is self-contradictory. So let’s examine the position of the scriptures on the matter.

THE WORKS OF FAITH. Part 2
In the previous publication, we have considered the works of faith. We have examined faith and seen how there is no faith if there is no deed. We realized that faith is not just in the hearing of the truth but in the hearing and doing of the truth. This is not supposed to be new to the believer; especially one who has been taught faith before. Generally the teachings of faith as we have them in the Church today are centered on the use of faith for material gain; health and wealth. I must state categorically that there is nothing wrong with this- especially when it is taught and understood properly. After all we need health and wealth to function at our prime for God in this world. If you are sick, how do you work and produce your best? And if you don’t have the means, how do you demonstrate your love for your neighbour?

THE WORKS OF FAITH. Part 1
According to the wisdom of the Scriptures, there are many things that the believer is by faith. The believer is born again by faith. He is righteous by faith. He is holy by faith. He is forgiven by faith. He is healed by faith, and so on and so forth. In fact everything is by faith. Such that if we misunderstand faith then we misunderstand everything.
My desire is that we rethink faith. My desire is that we re-examine our understanding of
faith. Why? Because a lot of what we believe about ourselves as Christians is hinged on our understanding of faith. Everything that we are and will ever be is by faith. This means if we misunderstand what faith is then we are likely to confuse many of the things in the scriptures about the Lord and the believer. However if we understand what faith is then we understand what is written about the Lord and the believer’s relationship with him.

FAITH? OR WHAT?
If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. (John 13:17)
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. (James 1:25)
The focus of this volume is to discuss why the concept of obeying the word of God seems to be unfamiliar and unpopular with the believer today. It is to draw attention to the fact that the believer seems to have mentally segregated the Word into two parts: the part which must be aspired to and the part which is impossible to do. Consequently, many believers exercise ‘faith’ in relation to their material prosperity, healing and deliverance from demonic influence, job prospects and the like. In this duplicitousness, the believer’s attempts to extort gain from the Lord are proverbially referred to as acts of faith. So to such, the exercise of faith and the application of spiritual laws such as confession of one’s faith or the making of faith declarations are seen as means to gain material from the Lord and not necessarily to obey His word.

HOW TO KNOW THE TRUTH
If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether
it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. (John 7:17)
One of the things that have become increasingly difficult to know in the body of Christ is what the truth is. We are now in a time in the Church when so many ‘truths’ are being taught. While some of these messages seem to be opposing, it is also not uncommon to meet two people espousing divergent opinions who can both comfortably quote not less than two verses to support their opinions, not caring whether they are rightly interpreted or not. Consequently, a new trend is developing where believers are now choosing to believe ‘truths’ not as a result of their proper scriptural merit but as a result of the influence of or a sentimental attachment to the professor of the ‘truth’. But this is wrong because such a posture separates the believer from the Scriptures and therefore his knowledge of the Lord is not a personal one but only secondhand. This is because teachings which the believer cannot confirm through the Scriptures and therefore from the Lord do not point the believer to the Lord but to the one who taught. In such a case, the believer’s faith or confidence does not rest in the power of God but in the wisdom of the one who preached.

GloryLife Conference
The Mentors International, a ministry
called with the mandate to equip Christians to take their place as functional
members in the body of Christ, has held its annual outreach dinner and awards’
night to reach out to other ministry-minded Christians.
The vision
for the historic event dubbed Communion
of Kings 2014, held at the Silicon Hotel at Mangoase, Kumasi, on the eve
of the Easter, was to bring together members and other ministry-conscious
Christians to celebrate and reflect on the work of the ministry. As such, there
was no shortage of good food, drinks and Spirit-filled table discussions.
The President of the ministry, Jeffrey
Walter Dadzeasah, congratulated the delegates for promptly responding to the
love of God in receiving His callings. He noted that life may be seen as a
battle for the hearts. Such that just as the world entices Christians to fall
in love with it, God also constantly reveals His superior love to all men to
the end that He may win their hearts. Ultimately, those who appreciate this
divine love and receive it become lovers of God, of His work, and therefore
ministers in the earth.
He, however, charged them to continue
chalking exploits in their individual God-given callings by continually
focussing on the unbridled love of God without which evangelism becomes a
lifeless activity. As the man of God ministered the word of love, God won many
hearts that day.
As is
fit, outstanding members and committees were also honoured for their dedication
to God’s work and awarded for their hardwork in building God’s church.
New Creation
Cell picked the award for ‘Cell of the
Year 2013/2014,’ as the ‘Committee of the Year’ went to the Camp Meeting
Committee. Five members, viz: Clara
Efua Mensah (Head of Finance), Theresa Addai-Yeboah, Nii Okai Adjaidoo, Enoch
Halm Quayson and Michael Ofori-Kyere, were honoured for their outstanding service to the ministry.
For their
outstanding service to their respective cells, the following members were also
honoured: John Justice Gyesi and Portia Boadi (for
Charis Cell), Theresa Addai–Yeboah, Richmond Addo and Theresa Addai-Yeboah (for
Philadelphia Cell), Nana Yaa Boateng and Belinda Osei-Tutu (for New Creation
Cell).
The rest were Isaac Owusu and Ebenezer
Odoom (for Heroes of Faith Cell), Nene Amoatey and Ato Tabbica (God's Generals
Cell), Rebecca Arthur and Ama Sakyiwaa Boateng (for Barakah Cell).

THE GRASS WITHERETH
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. (1 Pet 1: 24, 25)
Our opening scripture presents a truth about the natural life that I believe is often neglected. This truth is that the natural life, which is the flesh, is a life of decay. It is a life in decline which has it’s ultimate in death. Anyone who has attended a funeral before should know that like grass, the natural life does not last. Anyone who puts his trust in the natural life will soon find out that it is frail and fleeting and as such cannot be trusted unlike the eternal word of God which lives and abides forever.

WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY ARE YOU? PART 3 - It Is Unconditional
Seeing then that we have a great high priest that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God; let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.(Heb 4:14-16)
Hebrews chapter 4 talks about how the Christian, by belief in the finished work of Christ, has been ushered into a place of rest in God where he has ceased from all his works. One thing that many believers find difficult to do is to still access the blessings and provisions of God for them when they have committed an ‘abominable’ sin or messed up their lives badly in certain ways. They feel that then, they have not worked for God’s blessings as they should. The problem is often rooted in one’s socializing process. Many of such people have been given the wrong information and so the true picture of God’s love is not well painted to them. Consequently, they do not abide in the Lord’s rest as they ought to.

WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY ARE YOU? PART 2 - The Warranty
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them
who are the called according to his purpose. Jas 1:16,17 Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (Rom 8:28 ).
Often times, manufacturers of goods and services who want to maintain a high standard in the market offer warranties on their products. First of all, I believe that the warranty they place on the product is a mark of their confidence in the quality of the product and a seal of its quality. A warranty is defined as a guarantee given to the purchaser by a company stating that a product is reliable and free from known defects and that the seller will without charge, repair or replace defective parts within a given time limit and under certain conditions.

WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY ARE YOU? PART 1
Know that the LORD, He is God. He has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. (Psalms 100:3)
I personally believe that the sweetest position you can occupy in this life is to have someone bearing responsibility for your life. It is like a child who wakes up every day knowing that what he will need for the day is the sole responsibility of his parents. He wakes up not worrying about his school fees; whether it is paid or not. What this child knows to do best is to put on his uniform, pick up his bag and off he goesto school. He does not presume to bear any responsibility for his own fees at all and neither does he assume such responsibility at all.

WHERE IS YOUR BROTHER?
Let Brotherly Love Continue (Heb 13:1 )
One of the most shocking accounts related to us in the Bible is the account of Cain’s
assassination of his brother Abel. Even though I first heard of it when I was only a child
without much spiritual understanding, the horror of this account so pierced my heart that it moved me to tears. Look at it:
And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cainrose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? Andhe said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper? (Gen 4:8,9 )

WHO DO YOU SAY I AM
Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning
(James 1:16,17)
The perception we hold of God ultimately determines how we relate with Him. Those who see God as a wicked, inconsiderate judge also determine to stay clear of Him. Those who see Him as a sovereign Lord who chooses to do whatever He wants with His people at anytime and has not their interest at heart do not trust Him. Those who think He does not care do not pray to Him. Those who think He wants them to suffer remain in their sufferings. On the other hand, those who believe He loves them have a loving relationship with Him. Those who believe He has their best interest at heart commit their lives totally to Him. Those who believe He is caring pray to Him. But can God be everything everyone believes Him to be? Certainly not. God doesn’t change; we must understand that it is the way we see Him that may either be accurate or inaccurate.

DON’T HIDE FROM IT
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. (Heb 4:12,13 )
Generally, people like to cover up who they really are so far as what is in their heart is concerned. Appearances mean a lot to many; even among believers. We are very much interested in what the other thinks of us or sees us to be. Because of this error, many work very hard to keep up an image which, to them, is acceptable to anyone who cares to observe. Again, because of this unhealthy desire to look good before others, many a believer has become a hypocrite, often hiding behind a façade.

GOOD BETTER BEST
Those who know God know that He is not a God of mediocrity but of excellence. Being the standard for measuring excellence, excellence is in His very nature. Consequently, what He produces according to the dispensation of time is nothing but excellent. Actually at any point in time, He produces excellence according to specific requirements. This is so because the definition of excellence is contingent on the frame of time of which one speaks. Such that what is excellent today may be only good tomorrow. For example since the Law came from the Lord, it was an excellent thing which He did. It was according to divine plan and therefore it was the best. But in the dispensation of grace the Law is not the best. It is actually to be discarded so that righteousness may be of faith (cf. Gal.3:23,24). The glory of today may be nothing tomorrow since tomorrow may present different requirements for excellence. This is why your life should be an unending pursuit of excellence.

TWO ARE BETTER THAN ONE - Part Two
Arise, get thee to Zarephath, …and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee (1Kings 17:9).
Many Christians often put themselves at unnecessary disadvantage because they do not know that two are better than one. Either as a result of pride or ignorance, they have not yet received God’s winning formula. Even when things are messy, they like for everyone to think that everything is alright with them. They sit in quiet solitude in their closets to weep lamentably while God’s help is readily available next-door. And when they step out, they put up appearances of wellbeing, not wanting to be seen as needing help. But again I tell you a secret: two are better than one.
