WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY ARE YOU? PART 1

Know that the LORD, He is God. He has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. (Psalms 100:3)

I personally believe that the sweetest position you can occupy in this life is to have someone bearing responsibility for your life. It is like a child who wakes up every day knowing that what he will need for the day is the sole responsibility of his parents. He wakes up not worrying about his school fees; whether it is paid or not. What this child knows to do best is to put on his uniform, pick up his bag and off he goesto school. He does not presume to bear any responsibility for his own fees at all and neither does he assume such responsibility at all.

However, it is sad to note that many people, in aspiring to be responsible for their own lives have usurped and undermined God’s providence in their lives. There are some Christianswho have completely lost sight of the truth that the responsibility for their lives is God’s. Think about it; why would you want to bear responsibility for your life, its present and future outcomes, when God is willing and well able to do that?

Beloved, allow me to show you that you did not make yourself, but God did. Yes, God made you and so He bears responsibility for you. You did not make yourself. In fact, you couldn’t have made and still cannot make yourself. But we see from the bible that

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.(Gen 2:7).
Before God created man, there didn’t exist anything as such. Hear me, o man, you are God’s patented product!

The prophet Isaiah has this to say:

“And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.(Isaiah 49:5).

Isaiah had come to this eye-opening truth. Not only does he ascribe the formation of his life to God, but also the glory and the strength of that life. You cannot even take full credit for yourself for any goodness or achievements in your life; because Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.(James 1:17).
I daresay that you could not have attained the goodness and achievements in your life without the mighty aid of your maker, who also bears responsibility for your life. King David, the man I would acknowledge as the most successful king ever to rule on earth (second to Christ), also re-echoing this truth declares the Lord as the strength of his life; for which reason he shall not have cause to be afraid of anything or person.I want to encourage you to study what he has to say in 2 Samuel 22:29-47.

The Scriptures are replete with many more witnesses to the truth that God made us and is responsible for us: men who we acknowledge to be great in their day knew this wisdom and so must we. Consider what Joseph says of his Maker in Genesis 45:8,9. Consider the words of Solomon, the wisest man to ever inhabit the earth before Christ in 1 Kings 2:24, 1 Chronicles 1:8, 2 Chronicles 1:9. What happened to the great king Nebuchadnezzar when he ascribed all the glory and honour to the works of his own hands?

What does the Creator have to say concerning Himself? The Producer, the Manufacturer, the Maker of our lives;what says He concerning His works?

Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him (Isa 43:7).

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee (Jer 1:5).

Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things (Isa 44:24)

The following two verses of Scripture which I love so much portray how the Lord does not only declare that He made us, but also takes upon Himself responsibility for us:

Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen (Isa 44:2).

Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me (Isa 44:21).

A company is responsible for its products on the market. That company has the responsibility of addressing any issues pertaining to every item that they declare as their product. For example, Nokia will not take responsibility of addressing issues concerning a phone that Samsung has made, so far as Samsung have declared themselves as the manufacturers. Similarly, the Lord relentlessly declares Himself as our maker in Scripture, thereby placing Himself in a position of great responsibility for our lives. He has many times declared Himself as our maker, not for the reason of boastings but to show us how much He has made Himself responsible for the constant care of our lives. He is so much responsible and cares for us that He takes stock of even the number of hairs on our heads!

Beloved, God is responsible for your life and its wellbeing; so relax in this life and allow Him to bear the responsibility. He has put Himself in the position to be responsible for and address all the issues of your life. He calls upon you to be at rest and allow Him to perform His responsibility. Yes, be at rest in the truth that He bears active responsibility for your life and will not mess it up. No, God cannot mess up your life! He cannot! It will be inconsistent with His nature that He put His hand to a task and messed it up. Be rest assured that your life is in good hands because the one who bears responsibility for your life is the sourceof every good and perfect gift. With Him is no variableness; it cannot be that He performs well in the life of one person and messes up in the life of another. He is able to achieve every result He wants.

Hear the Lord as He speaks to you in Jeremiah 29:11 saying “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

He bears responsibility for you so He thinks about you. He cares about you so He has made plans to bring you into that expected or desired end. Let me tell you, beloved, God has better and more desirable plans for you than you have for yourself; and with these plans, He bears responsibility for you. This is the best position you can occupy in this life!

Beloved, God made you and is thus responsible for you. In His responsibility, He has the best plans and thoughts concerning you. So stop struggling, tryingto make things work by your own abilities. Stop battling with fears and anxieties in this life; throw the whole of your anxiety on Him, for He Himself takes care of you. (1 Peter 5:7 WNT).

Cast all your anxieties upon Him, for He cares for you. Allow Him to take care of the issues of your life, for He is responsible for you.
